WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
  • Two or three pairs of socks (wool or synthetic, thick and thin pairs)
  • Comfortable pants for hiking (cotton, fleece or wool pants are recommended)
  • Blue jeans are not recommended for hiking
  • Shorts
  • Long underwear
  • Light weight sweater or vest
  • Several t-shirts, long and short sleeved
  • Warm hat, scarf/bandana
  • Sun hat/ball cap
  • Warm gloves
  • Good quality sunglasses
  • Camera and film
  • Binoculars
  • Bathing suit
  • Insect repellent, sunscreen
  • Indoor shoes/sandals
  • At each lodge, guides and staff will issue ear plugs for your use. If you are very sensitive to noise and feel the provided pieces do not suit your needs, full head sets are available for purchase in the retail shop.


It is recommended that you dress in layers while out hiking, allowing the greatest flexibility for the varied climate of the mountains.

WHAT DOES CMH SUPPLY FOR EACH TRIP?

  • Sturdy, leather hiking boots (unusual and small children sizes are not always available, please call to discuss)
  • Insulated, hooded hiking jacket (wind and rain resistant)
  • Wind pants and a rain poncho
  • Gaiters (which fit over your boots to protect from snow)
  • Day pack, water bottle and walking stick
