The great sub-ranges of the Columbias are a climber’s paradise. (In which, amazingly in this day and age, there are still unclimbed peaks. We can make special arrangements for a first ascent of one of these.)

Private Guides

When you book a Climbing and Mountaineering Trip, you’ll be assigned a private guide, who’ll be with you throughout your stay. We guide in the European tradition; that is, we stress a strong personal, interactive relationship between client and guide, with lots of discussion and lots of flexibility.

As a Climbing and Mountaineering guest, you’ll be making ascents and climbs while your fellow lodge guests (or members of your group who aren’t into climbing) are Heli-Hiking. Whether you’re a solo traveller or part of a family or group of friends, having a private guide increases your options, allowing you to tailor your daily adventure. The guest-to-guide ratio for Climbing and Mountaineering is generally 3 to 1 (though it can certainly be 1 to 1). Our guides, fully certified through the IFMGA (International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations) and/or the ACMG (Association of Canadian Mountain Guides), delight in introducing private guests to our more than 110 climbs, which range from juggy 5.6’s to crimpy 5.12’s, or, to put it another way, from beginning rock climbs to world-class, multi-pitch ascents.

Private Guides are available at all six mountain lodges: Adamant, Bobbie Burns, Bugaboo, Cariboo, Monashee or Valemount. A Mountaineering trip must be booked for the full duration of each CMH lodge stay.

Mountaineering guide service is provided for an additional fee of CAD $780.00 per day. This noted fee is added to any regular scheduled Heli-Hiking holiday. Rates are subject to 6% GST.

Call us at 1-800-661-0252 for specific details on our Mountaineering Program.

See our listing of available dates and prices for all Heli-Hiking departures.
